MyClassroom is a powerful tool to help teachers and year-level coordinators provide Students with temporary access to websites and resources that they would not normally be allowed access to (a "grey area" of access, if you will). The following steps will walk you through how to use MyClassroom effectively.

Log into MySonar by opening the URL http://my.sonar in your Internet Browser. If you're having trouble accessing MySonar, contact your system administrator for assistance.


Navigate to the MyClassroom tab in MySonar. If you cannot see the MyClassroom tab in MySonar, contact your systems administrator for assistance. You may not have been given permission to view MyClassroom yet.


In the MyClassroom tab, you can click "Generate Ticket" to create a temporary ticket which will bypass all filtering for the Students except anything blocked in Sonar’s Policy Group (only the worst of the worst should be blocked in Policy Group, such as Pornography and Violence).


Currently, you can only choose from four pre-set time limits for Bypass Tickets.


  • 15 Minutes

  • 45 minutes

  • 60 Minutes

  • 120 Minutes

The time limit will begin once users have entered the Bypass Ticket into the Block Page. If users cannot view the block page, contact your systems administrator for assistance. You can also click "Cancel Ticket" to end it prematurely. 

Once the Bypass Ticket expires, the Teacher who created the Bypass Ticket should receive and Post-MyClassroom Report that details who used the Ticket, and what websites they visited while using the Bypass Ticket. Please note that the report will only be sent 1 hour after Bypass Ticket expiry (this time is used by Sonar to gather the information and send correlate it into a report).
